Barking Riverside wins award for integrating biodiversity into design.
The unique partnership between Barking Riverside Ltd, the University of East London and London Wildlife Trust has been recognised with an award in the Integrated Habitats Design Competition 2012. The work of the partnership in promoting the conservation of biodiversity within the development, the adaptation of the site for building resilience in the face of climate change, and the promotion of community engagement for the future sustainable management of the development has been Highly Commended by the judging panel.
An exhibition of the IHDC 2012 winners and finalists is now open to the public in the Darwin Centre Cocoon at the Natural History Museum, London. It is free and will be displayed from 8 - 19 October, as a Fringe Event of the 11th Biodiversity COP in Hyderabad over the same period.
